Kennedy Mmbando is Artst comes from Dar es Salaam in Tanzania. Colors and shapes, to paint and sculpt has always been a natural part of Kennedy. His mother who is a teacher, among other things in drawing for children, early noticed his big interest for painting and inspired him to continue to paint, despite that many didn't consider it a future career. As a teenager, in high-school, Kennedy got into contact with an artist who together with his class teacher saw that he had talent and therefore encouraged him to go on with his art. One of the artists who helped him a lot was Professor Elias Jengo from the university in Dar es Salaam. He let Kennedy participate in several of his art projects and gave him a tip regarding two schools in Bagamoyo, about 50 kilometres outside of Dar es Salaam; Bagamoyo Sculpture School and Bagamoyo College of Art. Through his education he got the chance to work with art together with children in different schools, something he would like to continue with in the future. To Kennedy art is a way to - together with different colours and shapes - express different feelings and ideas within himself. He uses different styles and his paintings are often inspired by Tanzania and for him a way to live close to his roots even when he is far away from home.
